Do you have a sensitivity to traditional shaving cream? Or perhaps you simply want to put less chemicals on your skin. A great alternative to traditional shaving cream is coconut oil.

Simply apply some coconut oil to your skin and shave as you normally would.

The beauty of using coconut oil is that it also acts as an after shave moisturizer.

How to condition your bamboo cutting board with coconut oil

Cutting board (c) cocomenuts.com

In just a few easy steps you can condition your bamboo cutting board with coconut oil. This will prevent it from drying out or cracking. Do this periodically to extend the life of your board.

  1. Warm up 1-2 Tablespoons of coconut oil.
  2. Spread coconut oil on your board and let it soak for a few hours.
  3. Wipe excess coconut oil with a towel.

And why not rub some of that excess coconut oil on your hands as a moisturizer :-) .

Coconut oil has a long shelf life and is highly resistant to rancidity. This makes it a great natural option for conditioning your cutting board. If you are like me, your kitchen is always stocked with coconut oil, so it is a simple option to reach for.

Note: It is generally not recommended to soak your bamboo cutting board in water or put it in the dishwasher. This can cause the board to crack or distort.

Coconut oil for Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer's disease what if there was a cure by Dr. Mary Newport (c) cocomenuts.com

When Dr. Newport’s husband Steven was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s, as a Doctor herself, she explored routine treatment options. But when his symptoms became so severe that he was not able to participate in clinical trials, her scientific deductions led to coconut oil. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Newport at the CHFA trade show in 2011.

At the time, coconut oil had already helped me with treating Blepharitis, so her story resonated with me. I have followed Dr. Newport’s progress online.

According to her website Dr. Newport has been successful in receiving grants for research at the University of South Florida (USF) Byrd Alzheimer Institute, where humane animal studies are in progress. In addition, a clinical trial of coconut oil in people with mild cognitive impairment is also underway.

Wishing Dr. Mary Newport continued success with her research!

Sincerely,
